Well, there comes a time in every man's life when he says to himself, "Self, I feel like going out and working my butt off so some rich guy can get a little richer." That time for me is now.
That's right, I've been sitting at home for too long. Sure I've had summer jobs, but now that I'm homeschooling, I could go for a job all year round. So what's stopping me? This is what's stopping me:
The job market in this area sucks donkey. I mean, seriously... where else in the country does a high-school student have to compete with college-grads or even higher education for a job at McDonalds? How many jobs have I not gotten because some lady my mom's age with her Masters in sociology got the job? Why is grandma working at Wendy's? She can't even see (let alone count) the change!!1 This area makes me sick.
Where is the big corporation that's supposed to take educated people so that highschool students can work the crap jobs? Oh, that's right, the corporation is in another state... where there's educated people.
If there's one thing I noticed about this area of New Hampshire, it's this: Everybody is too busy with their head up their asses to realize what's really going on. Am I blaming the people for being dumbasses? No, I blame the schools, which do nothing to educate the students more than what is necessary to work at Mc Donalds. But please people! I haven't seen so many uneducated people in my life! People are born here, grow up here, get married here, and die here. People don't realize that there is more out there... and they don't realize that there's intelligence out there. People don't know what the hell is going on outside their own tight-knit community. Ask anyone in this area how the economy is. Go ahead. Let them tell you how good it is. They don't know anything.
Stupid people make me sick.
Stumble this article.
gregor @ 10/18/03 "Noones going to bend over backwards for you, would you do it for them? You have to go and get an education yourself."
FredFredrickson @ 10/18/03 "That's not my freakin point! My point is, they don't know what an education is, so they're gonna stay here and get uneducated."
FredFredrickson @ 10/18/03 "I've already taken steps to fix my education. I've left the public school, and I plan on going to college out of state."
FreakBurrito @ 10/18/03 "Good for you. I'm planning on going back to NH to finish my college now you'll probally never respect me. Well if you were planning on respecting me at some point."
flushmaster2000 @ 10/18/03 "Well, as long as you're going to UNH thats not too bad."
Spoonman @ 10/19/03 "Structural Unemployment. And...fortunately, the economy is better than it has been in 2 years. Did you know that the Dow closed above 9700 today?"
FredFredrickson @ 10/19/03 "unemployment is at the highest rate in 10 years, however."
Iceman @ 10/19/03 "All these points aside I was at Wendy's on Monday and they were hiring. "
flushmaster2000 @ 10/20/03 "Yeah finding a job out here has been a real bitch, I might actually have to resort to a temp agency."
Spoonman @ 10/20/03 "Yeah, but see it's not cyclical unemployment...it's just the structure...other people with families to support get those jobs."
